Why We Buy

Psychology Today did a great piece a while back on Why We Buy…
I am a shop-a-holic. I know I am. This is good information. Maybe, just maybe it’ll help my issue (well at least this 1 issue).
How can we become more vigilant?
There are two types of consumers. The high-involvement consumer makes lists of what they want each time they visit the store. For them, penciling in the exact number of what they want to buy can keep them from purchasing more. There are also the impulse shopper who buy what he wants when he wants it. He should try to remember that every time he sees a number in a store sign, he’s likely to buy at least one more item than intended.
Happy Compulsive Shopping!

Great tip! This stuff is common sense, but some of us need reminders. I found this helpful since we’re not a family of extras in life to trim back when needed. We have to watch our spending on the necessities and we can get carried away with the marketing tricks and over spend unnecessarily.
Thanks for stopping by UpTake and leaving a comment! Austin is a fun place to visit, for sure! And the bats are incredible.
